There is nothing like the feeling of the open road when you’re driving your little home on wheels. Freedom in front of you, beautiful landscapes beside you, and nothing behind you… partly because you can’t see without a rearview mirror.
Our Sprinter van is wonderful in so many ways, but the blind spots when driving are a real issue. Without any rear windows, there is zero way to know what is going on behind you while you’re driving or while you’re trying to back in to a tight spot. Enter the Wolfbox G900 Pro.
The first time we saw the G900 Pro, we were pretty impressed, but weren’t sure exactly how much it would improve our day-to-day lives on the road, until we installed one. In this blog post, we’ll break down the good, the bad, and everything we’ve learned since having one in our van.

A Digital Rearview Mirror That Actually Works
Let’s start with the biggest win: the G900 Pro isn’t just a dash cam, it’s a full-on digital rearview mirror. It uses a rear-mounted camera to stream a live video feed directly to a 12-inch touchscreen mirror that is mounted just like a regular rearview mirror would be.

For campervans, like ours, without rear windows, this is huge. It effectively gives you eyes in the back of your van at all times.
Whether you’ve got a fully built-out Sprinter, a ProMaster packed to the ceiling, or even a truck camper with zero rear visibility, the G900 Pro gives you back a rearview mirror, which is so important for safety and visibility.
Crystal Clear Footage (Day or Night)
Most dash cams are designed with standard passenger cars in mind. That’s not our reality.
The G900 Pro not only shows you what’s happening in real-time, but it also records it. The 2.5K camera in the rear and 4K camera in the front capture crystal-clear footage with sharp detail like license plates, road signs, and movement around your van.
It also really stands out is low-light performance. Thanks to the advanced Sony STARVIS sensor, it maintains clarity even in challenging conditions like:
- Night driving on remote roads
- Rainy coastal highways
- Dusty desert trails
This isn’t just about pretty footage, although we certainly do appreciate having that, it’s about capturing usable evidence if something goes wrong.

All the footage is stored on an SD card, which can easily be transferred to your phone or computer. That brings us to our next point…
Smart Features That Make Life Easier
This isn’t one of those gadgets packed with gimmicks you’ll never use. The smart features here are genuinely helpful on the road:
- Wi-Fi connectivity lets you transfer footage directly to your phone
- GPS tracking logs your routes and speed
- Voice control allows hands-free operation while driving, so you can do things like take pictures with a simple voice command.
That last one is especially useful in a van where you’re already juggling navigation, road conditions, and possibly a coffee in hand.
A Massive Upgrade for Safety (Especially in Tight Spaces)
Driving a campervan means constantly dealing with:
- Tight trails
- Narrow city streets
- Crowded parking lots
- Blind backing situations
The G900 Pro doubles as a backup camera with real-time feed, helping you navigate these situations with way more confidence.
Unlike traditional backup cameras that only activate in reverse, this system can run continuously. That means:
- You can monitor traffic behind you at all times
- You can keep an eye on tailgaters or aggressive drivers
- You get better awareness when changing lanes
For anyone who’s ever white-knuckled a van through a tight parking lot… yeah, this is a game-changer.
24/7 Protection for Your Home on Wheels
One of the underrated realities of van life? Your vehicle is sitting unattended…a lot.
The G900 Pro includes parking monitoring and G-sensor technology, which automatically records if it detects motion or impact while you’re away.
So whether you’re:
- Out hiking
- Paddleboarding on a lake
- Sleeping in a random pull-off
…your van has an extra layer of security.
If you return to your van and notice that something is off, you can review the footage stored on the SD card to find out what happened while you were away.
The Only Real Downside (And Why It’s Worth It)
Let’s be real. This isn’t a plug-and-play device for everyone.
Installation can take a bit of effort, especially if you’re routing wires cleanly through a van build. For us, it took about two hours and involved hard-wiring it to our fuse box and running the camera wires through the firewall. We also had to route the wires under the van to the rear and mount the camera to the hitch.
If you don’t have a rearview mirror already installed, you’ll also have to find a mounting system. We started with a suction cup mount that kept falling off the windshield when the sun would hit it. After that, we ended up epoxying a rearview mirror mount to the windshield and attaching the G900 Pro with the OEM bracket.
There are a lot of great online resources and YouTube videos to help with this, but be aware that it will take some effort. But once it’s in? You’ll be so happy with your upgrade.
Why It’s Especially Perfect for Windowless Campervans
If you take nothing else from this, it’s this:
The Wolfbox G900 Pro isn’t just a nice-to-have for vans without rear windows. It solves a fundamental problem.
Without it, you’re relying on side mirrors and guesswork.
With it, you get:
- A constant, clear rear view
- Better awareness in every driving situation
- Increased safety for you and everyone around you

Final Thoughts
For van lifers, especially those living in fully built rigs without rear windows, the Wolfbox G900 Pro feels less like an accessory and more like a necessity.
It improves safety, adds security, and makes driving a big vehicle feel dramatically more manageable. If your van blocks your rear view (which, let’s be honest, most do), this is one of the most impactful upgrades you can make.
