When you live on the road or go for a weekend camping trip, nothing is more important that power. Over the past year of full-time van life, we’ve found (sometimes the hard way) that you can never have too much battery. It’s our lifeline to staying connected, powering our devices, and running essential items like our induction stovetop and electric water kettle. I mean, what would we do if we couldn’t boil water for coffee in the morning?
Although we have house batteries in our van and our truck camper, we often found ourselves wishing we had something as a portable back-up. Enter the Bluetti Elite 100 V2 (discount code at the end of this blog post!). Having a back-up battery has been a complete game-changer. We no longer have to worry if our house batteries are getting too low, and it’s also super portable so we can take it outside to power our satellite or cook a meal al fresco. It has opened a whole world of possibilities we simply didn’t have before.
We landed on the Bluetti Elite 100 V2 because for the size and price, it is best-in-class. We wanted something small enough that it could easily fit in our van garage or truck backseat, but also powerful enough that it could handle our induction stovetop. This battery checked all the boxes and we couldn’t be more pleased with it. Below are some of the features we love.

Small Unit, Big Power
With 1024 watt hours at 1800 watts, this little portable power unit packs a punch. It also has a Power Lifting mode, which can handle up to 2,700 watts, perfect for high-draw resistive loads like our electric tea kettle, induction cooktop, or electric blanket on a chilly day.

Super Quiet AND Super Light
If you’re relying on running batteries in your van or vehicle while you’re in there, the last thing you want is a noisy hum. The Bluetti is whisper quiet and the only time we’ve really heard it is when we are charging it. Otherwise, it is pretty silent when in use, which is such a great feature.
It’s also light (about 25 lbs), which makes it easy to move around the van or truck. When you live in a tight space, having something you can relocate with minimal effort is key.

So Many Charging Ports!
We love that there are so many options to plug devices into the Bluetti Elite 100 V2. There are 4 AC ports, 2 USB-A, 2 USB-C, and 2 DC ports. The variety of options allow us to charge our cameras, drone, and power our laptop all at the same time.

WiFi/Bluetooth Connectivity
From the palm of your hand, you can monitor battery levels and even turn the unit (or AC/DC) on and off through the app. This is super convenient if we’re a distance away from the battery and want to see what percentage it is at, or shut things down after we’re done charging something or using our satellite.
Multiple Options to Charge
When the Bluetti power station is getting low, there are three different options to charge it: 120 volt plug, solar panels, or DC/DC through your car’s battery. Different options allow us to charge this while at camp or on the go, giving us freedom to stay off-grid longer.
The only thing we wish it had was the option to plug it in to your car’s cigarette lighter for charging. To charge it through the car’s battery, you have to install a separate DC/DC charge box called the Charger 1.
10 Year Battery Life and 5 Year Warranty
An investment like the Bluetti is something we don’t take lightly. The 10-year battery life and 5-year warranty gives us peace of mind and lets us know we can count on this battery for years to come.
Final Thoughts
Having portable back-up power has no longer become a nice-to-have, but something we rely on daily living an off-grid nomadic lifestyle. While there are a lot of options available for portable power, nothing has come close to the Bluetti Elite 100 V2 for the lifestyle we live, the price, or the size.
